We will never achieve world peace if you guys can't see that Walgreens will lose nothing from this, and that man probably resorted to this because he had no other choice.

Theft causes several stores to operate in the red and close their doors. Even large retailers like Walmart close stores because of it and that causes 100’s of community job loss and makes goods difficult to get for folks in that community that either walk, bike or bus to stores.

I’ve been in that business for 20+ years. Your assumption is not accurate.

Very successful stores turn ~8% EBITDA. Warehousing, Corporate salaries, taxes, healthcare, pension funding, marketing and many other expenses still have to come out of that number. Truth is the average EBITDA is even lower than 8%.

I don’t work for Walmart at all. I’ve been in the industry for other retailers. Know tons of people who love their jobs and make tons of money. Many/most of whom started entry level. I’m also not bitter, just not a fan of people preaching that misconception.

That said, I know plenty of people who work there too. Same story. Sure, entry level positions are tough and don’t pay well but that’s why they’re “entry level”. There are tons of great career paths in retail.
