My 2018 Social Media wishlist (an ongoing list): 1. Social Media platforms get serious about actually banning abuse - yes, that includes Twitter and YouTube, who imo are the worst offenders.

3. Instagram folks: Stop it with the 9-photos-to-make-a-larger-photo-when-you-look-at-the-grid thing. It's terrible. It's over. The algorithm will show your followers the photos out of order for the next week and no one wants this. Let it go.

4. We all chill a bit on correcting people on here. This is something we all need to work on. Ease back on explaining the joke or correcting someone's grammar. No one needs your um, actually.

5. Better support for businesses and social media managers on Facebook and other platforms. Oh damn is it hard to get support. Can we work on that please?

6. Brands need to do more investigation into influencers before partnering with them. Don't just partner with just anyone. Numbers aren't everything. If an influencer won't say no to a brand, they aren't someone you want to work with. Make sure to agree to everything upfront.

7. Check out the
#12daysofsocial tips we put together. Print them out if you need to. Re-read them. There are good tips in there.https://twitter.com/bingofuel/status/940736727013933056 …

8. If people have real beef with someone about a partnership they're doing, I feel like you have two options: keep it to yourself or talk to them about it (in private if possible). I find most people are pretty open with their reasons. (up to a point, don't be a dick.)

9. Shit is stressful enough out there. Let people enjoy the things they like - as long as it isn't hurting anyone, it's cool. Hate that someone you follow is now just a (insert cool young band name)-fan page now? Unfollow them. It's cool.

10. People can unfollow people. It's totally okay. We stress about this stuff way too much and no one needs to be called out for unfollowing someone. If you know them IRL, calmly talk to them IRL about it. Don't get people to DM them or call them out about it openly.

11. Pay Social Media people. Pay them for their advice. Pay them for working with you/your brand. Pay them & let them actually focus on your needs properly. Don't make them wear all the marketing hats - a good social media/CM/CS person is hard to find & should be treated well.

12. Credit where credit is due. Sharing someone’s work? Link to them! Embedding a tweet into your blog or article? Give them a shout out. Try to credit artists and creators whenever possible. Super golden rule type stuff: treat others how you want to be treated.

13. Consider other people when you share something gross/horrifying. Rethink RTing videos of people killing animals, or sharing photos of your body horror at the ER, or your kid covered in snot/bodily fluids. This isn’t something everyone wants to see. Don’t bring the bad to them
