Today hasn't been fun, trying to work around serious robbing. Managed to put clearing boards on another couple of sites and bring boxes off 2. Did find a leaky lid and it was mobbed and one super about robbed out. It was fine yesterday, should have taken them then.🤦‍♂️😳

The President's Project at the British Beekeepers' Headquarters in Kenilworth was opened today by the daughters of the wonderful benefactor, Jim Hopkins, who left us the legacy which made it possible. It is now an education centre welcoming school children across the area.

Honey bees loving poached egg plants today in Northern Ireland. If you are keen to help bees and the environment please plant open flowers like this one. Lots of different pollinators can get a good meal without any trouble finding the entrance.

Wasp larvae are carnivorous. Adult wasps feed insects to their larvae who then secrete a sugary substance which the adult wasps eat. As the summer ends the wasp nests are breaking up and the adults have no food. Here they are enjoying the windfalls. Even wasps must eat.

Red tailed bumblebee collecting pollen today. A simple flower head that provides lots of yellow pollen for them to take back to the hive for them to make food for their brood. Please plant wild flowers for bees.

5mm of rain since yesterday. That brings us to a massive total of 8.5mm since Thursday. Could do with at least double that, but it's well overdue. Nothing for the 3 weeks before.
