I think they did mean broke but that the American people are broke not the government. I too was worried this was a deficit hawk discussion and was ready to scream

according to conservatives, libertarians, and Neoliberals the US is so broke that if give our citizens M4all the country go bankrupt. I trying to figure out how the other 1st world nations who are not as rich as the US do it. lol

Then you’re not paying attention. The “right” doesn’t have answers. The left IS having discussions. But you cannot forget for the last 20 years democrats either didn’t control the senate or WH to get things done, or if they DID they still tried to reach across the aisle

Half of American earners earn less than $35,000, at least of 2019. I don't make much more than that. We need to build that narrative he alludes to. And more importantly, reinforce the left narrative every-single-day.
