And the other side of this dissociation illustrated in this review by and coincidentally published today: patient NB has perirhinal lesion sparing hippocampus, with impaired familiarity but spared episodic recollection.

Very impressive study of patients with post-encephalitic focal CA3 atrophy showing temporally extended autobiographical episodic memory impairment (with spared production of non-episodic content), using the Autobiographical Interview. Congrats to T Miller and your team!

This is fantastic! A great reading list and I’m thrilled to be included! Given the focus of the course on brain stuff, you may also be interested in the structural imaging work we’ve done correlating with spatial navigation behavior.

The selection of readings was explicitly elitist, restricted to classics, large N studies, and the best contemporary methods we could find. Emphasis on brain measures but good dose of cog theory for context. And some good general public works like:

This provided a useful alternative approach to the neural basis of cognition emphasizing structural/functional connectivity (as opposed to lesions or standard imaging comparisons) through the lens of neurodevelopment and aging, informed by measurement theory.
