Confirmed: RAM in the new Mac mini is not user accessible. Hard drive can be replaced/upgraded, though not keeping warranty.

@brianstucki Glad I bought the last MIni and maxed the RAM out at 16GB through OWC.

@mgetzski yes, that will be a good route for a lot of people.

@brianstucki @macminicolo Bah! It was bound to happen one of these days. What happens with internal storage if PCI Flash is configured?

@beornlake @macminicolo It looks to just leaves open the bay. Would probably just need to get a flex cable to add, but not sure.

@brianstucki I wonder if “not user accessible” equals soldered to the motherboard or just hidden behind many torx screws.

@brianstucki well that’s not fun. They should mention that all over its product page. Upgrade prices are fair, but people need to be warned.

2/ @brianstucki Btw, didn't  tout user accessibility on the Mac minis in the past?

@varunorcv @MGGJim I did see it. Some good points and a few others I don’t quite agree with. ( And a title that probably oversells it all.)

@brianstucki hi Brian! Can you still add a second hard drive into the Mac mini? Thanks!

@senolhasan1 no second drive. (Other than a Fusion which uses HDD and Flash of course)

@brianstucki Apple just loves dashing people's hopes against the rocks, don't they, all in the name of ASP.

1/ @brianstucki #1 (possibly only) reason to buy minis: RAM & HDD prices reduce every year. I can't help but feel  has terribly let us down

@varunorcv @brianstucki but you pay a lot more for RAM in any Apple computer then if you'd bought it in some IT store (Newegg, NCIX...)

@dimplex666 @brianstucki We're saying the same thing: user access WAS the Nº1 reason minis WERE awesome. Older minis cont'd to stay useful.

@brianstucki I'm waiting to see the benchmarks of the new dual core vs the old quad core. Do the architecture advancements make it a wash?
