I feared this would happen, so often elderly folks do not last long after losing a spouse, but I cant even imagine coping with waking up without your partner of 73 years. God bless him

I wonder if love like that even exists anymore, in people my age and younger.
-
I had a conversation with my father before he died, he said “will you ever get married“? I said dad remember, for you and mom in your day you HAD to get married just to be intimate, now it’s not like that people hop into bed on second dates,it’s harder to find true love like u did
-
So, I think society and just the way we have “evolved” or in the case of romance devolved, makes it if not impossible very very rare to see that kind of love ever again... anyway that’s MY excuse

-
Yes, romance has certainly devolved. I don’t really think it’s a change for the better.

He wants to be with Barbara. I once worked in old folks home and so often, those married a half century or more, invariably died within weeks of each other. It's sweet and sad, at the same time.

Sad. When Barbara posed the question, “What’s the reason you were spared during the war.” He answered, “ You are the reason”.
-
Dang. You just made me cry.
-
It made me cry too. Someone quoted this at her funeral.
