I agree, I've said from the beginning that the media wants to compare Trump to traditional norms, motives, & priorities. There is more than enough evidence to indicate that Trump is anything but tradition.

Rucker, Costa, Haberman, etc. must have a LOT of self-control not to burst out laughing on TV when discussing Trump's puerile lunacy. Trump won the election for all kinds of reasons but doesn't deserve to be imbued with brains he clearly doesn't have.

Since day 1. The concept of the man in that particular office seems to be too much for reporters to bear. They think the institution of POTUS is so critical to humanity that there must be a method to his madness. There is not.

Trump's always like this though, just to differing degrees. I've worked for a man just like Trump - always teetering on the edge, and they can go from the appearance of 'relative calm' to rage in a nano-second.

Every action Trump takes must be framed in the context of how he thinks it will make him look. He is obsessed with people's perception of him. When he orders a military strike, he isn't thinking strategy, he's thinking "this will make me look tough."

In general, i think reporters try to control a narrative. Instead of calling trump out on his bullshit, the media tends to fan the flames of his idiocy bc ratings. On the other hand, they paint a picture of hysteria when there isnt any.

Totally agree, although he has been flailing since his first day in office. Reporters can only pass on to readers/viewers the varying degrees to which Trump is acting out his current mania.

To make sense of Trump behavior, reporters should stop analyzing the "meaning" of each moment as if it has meaning. Provide context to report the whole, not just the parts. Report truth.

@brianstelter Problem is not reporters always trying to make sense of what Trump says/does. Problem is reporters' cognitive dissonance that Trump acts guilty because he is guilty, which means reporters' point of view all along is blown away! As it should be!! #MondayMotivation
