Trump is spreading disinformation: "In many places the same person in California votes many times. They always like to say, 'Oh that's a conspiracy theory.' It's not a conspiracy theory. Millions and millions of people..."

a lie does not require proof that the liar doesn't believe it.
-
example: Bill Clinton did not believe he had sex because there was not penile/vaginal penetration. and yet he was impeached for perjuring himself when he said he did not

I call bullshit. He can say whatever he wants facts be damned because as long as he commits to it then he isn't a liar per se? Trump. Is. A. Liar. He. Is. That. Guy. Jon. Lovitts. Played. On. Snl. But. Dangerous. Because. He's. Also. POTUS.

why split hairs on "liar" when you've already accused him of spreading disinformation, which is "false information deliberately and often covertly spread (as by the planting of rumors) in order to influence public opinion or obscure the truth"? False information = lie

I think he could pass a polygraph on this question. That’s way more alarming than purposeful lying.

Once told a truth by a Veteran: If you say you are crazy, in court, it is impossible to prove beyond reasonable doubt, that you are not. If someone else says you are crazy when you aren't, they can prove that you are, in one way or another. Same thing here.He says he believes it.

Brian you can’t split that hair buddy, many people especially pathological believe their own lies. This in no way excuses them from being called a liar. In fact it requires even more forceful calling out to show the liar that regardless of their own delusion a lie is a lie!
-
If Americans were to accept the logic that pathological liars actually believe their own lies so therefore they cant be called liars, especially if it’s the POTUS this country is in big trouble! Journalists have a responsibility to call it what it is!

I have now started this 10 different ways. Not an easy one. But if we really have a president who is impervious to the truth then calling out lies & falsehoods in no uncertain terms is crucial. I'd finish with PERIOD but that's already been ruined.
-
I'm confused how Kellyanne Conway -- herself a facile liar -- gets to decide how members of the press define the President's repeated falsehoods.

Seriously. A lie doesn’t cease to be a lie based on how you feel about it

You know, fraud can be based on a reckless disregard for the truth. Does not require positive knowledge of untruth. What do we call people who keep asserting things that have no basis in fact: usually we call them liars.

Brian, you are flat-out wrong. This is the Merriam-Webster definition of "lie" (noun). Trump's statement qualifies as a lie according to definition 1(b). Take a step back, try to look at this objectively (using third-party definitions of the word "lie"), and reevaluate.pic.twitter.com/gPY145lM9s

Your comment is utterly ridiculous a lie is a lie. You don't need a psychological report of Trump's mental state to know this!
