I am 3 hours from Portland OR and KATU broadcasts in my area. I am boycotting them and urging others to do the same. I don’t need my news from Stepford Anchors.

Send love to Roseburg, Oregon.
#SinclairBrainwashing owns 4 stations in that town. 4. Stations. 22,000 people.#SinclairBroadcasting#Sinclair -
Roseburg? That’s appalling. Wonder why? Read this.http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/11/trumps-fcc-clears-the-way-for-consolidation-in-local-news.html …

They get wider reception beyond Roseburg. FCC ruling last September specifically enabled these kind of broadcast station buyouts, nationwide. See Sinclair's heavy lobbying and otherwise generally vague capitalist ties to Trump and his appointee to the FCC chair position.
-
Oh I know. Roseburg is the seat of Douglas County. Without a library ( closed ) options for getting news is weighed heavily towards Sinclair “Terrorism Alert Desk” Broadcasting.

This won’t change with a a Rep president/Congress.With any luck it will with the next President, to reenact the “main studio law” which was in place for 80 years, till our dictator took office. It requires broadcasters to have a physical studio where they broadcast from.

Thanks for mansplaining
@editorswindler’s tweet and providing male verification. -
I am not at all offended by
@brianstelter doing his due-diligence to independently verify news. :) -
thanks ;-) a source forwarded me the memo so i wanted folks to know!
-
In all seriousness, how the hell is this “mansplaining”??? lmao
-
It's not. Brian reported first on these nation-wide, must-run promos. I'm fangirling over the retweet, tbh.
@ReliableSources rocks.

Sinclair is acting like State Media Pravda back in the USSR Days & now Putin’s Russia. Totally insane
-
The level at which this mimics the USSR is really disheartening. This is what Hypernormalization is. It's next to impossible to fight against and then you turn into a cultural mob run wasteland like Russia is now

Up until 1984, when the rules were changed, no one company could own more than 7 stations. I'd love to see a feature on your show re: the history of how these limits got raised over the years so that one company, Sinclair, could own so many stations.https://www.nytimes.com/1984/07/27/business/fcc-raises-limit-on-total-stations-under-one-owner.html …
