This was a crazy and terrible week for American society. Like every week for over a year. But the country continues to under-react to the enormity of the emergency.

@eisingerj Watching from Canada, it sure looks like the U.S. government is failing the people and country. I'd be surprised if it doesn't take decades to recover. Citizens should be filling the streets to throw out the GOP and Trump family.

The fundamental problem: Racist and sexist white men in red states make a large chunk of our population. They are over represented in politics cos our archaic electoral college, gerrymandering and undemocratic 2 senators/state. It will take 2 centuries to fix.

The issue isn’t people under-reacting. The issue is 40% of Americans approve of the job he’s doing. That’s where the real problem is. That’s more dangerous than who he sleeps with.

Agree for part, but I also think part of the 40% support stays because they see everything as noise and some of them would react if there was less of it.

Agree. I think history will ask.. 1) How did you let this happen given all you knew...given all you'd been through? 2) Once the damage started, why were you so slow to react?

I would agree. Isn’t this why we elect politicians? To be alarmed and react for us? This man in the White House has spun a web of fake news around himself. He is not untouchable. So why aren’t people touching him?

Disagree. The people are angry, but news anchors & pundits are dismissive of that anger, lumping us all together as tired of the drama. We're not tired at all. We want change. We want an end to white supremacy and this fascist regime in D.C.
