My hat is a sign of intelligence. You voted for the racist sexual predator who went bankrupt six times and ran a fake charity.

I can take a guess here. Probably something like [Publish this story and we'll sue you for slander and defamation for x millions of dollars, blah, blah, blah] and that thankfully the Guardian had the smarts and guts to ignore that threat.

This is a slamdunk win for Facebook it's clearly no more a data breach than photocopying a phone book would be.
-
I don't think you understood the story. They took data from a third party app, you then have to allow the app to see your contacts and friends, then they steal the data from the app. Some ppl have thousands of friends, so you need only target a few to reach many.
-
There was no stealing. They hired a company to build the app for that purpose.
-
The app is not allowed to share info gathered, with a data analytical company. The app was something that ppl would have downloaded on their own, unaware that their info would be used to target them and their online friends.
-
Exactly, it was a terms of service violation, not a data breach.
-
Call what you want. When you download a game or app you don't expect your entire facebook feed and all your friends, will be shared with a third party. This is the future. Data warfare. Defend, deny, and your a willing participant.
-
I mean you do have an expectation of your Facebook data being shared when click okay to a very clear message saying you allow your Facebook data to be shared.
-
Ok, your just wrong. You never click to allow your info to be shared. You click to allow the app or game access your friends, not a third party. Not Cambridge analytical.

Please do cover story. Remember 2 days after Comey was fired. FBI raided Cambridge Analytica and took everything possible. FBI was quiet while Comey story burned up news. Did FBI find FB connection, GOP Pacs, GOP on Hill, Russian money, Mercers? All of these & MORE is my bet.
