Seems to me, Sessions would be crazy to fire McCabe. If he does so, Mueller will be forced to investigate it for obstruction, witness tampering, witness intimidation, etc.. He should have recused the moment this came up. Am I missing something?

I was thinking the same thing. I would think that Trump’s tweets have made it impossible for Sessions to fire McCabe without triggering another investigation into Trump & his team.pic.twitter.com/WxszIRDwVv

is this a common practice?
-
yes. at this point it's easier to list the officials whose firings/resignations we *don't* have a prewrite for.
-
to be clear, prewriting resignations and firings for most of the Cabinet (as opposed to, say, obits or election results) did not used to be common

Gee, I wonder if Fox was given a heads up.

Everybody was. Months ago by Trump himself mocking McCabe in a tweet.

If it does happen, I think McCabe needs to fight back. It would be a clear case of spite!

I think it was released on purpose – they’re trying to make it happen. Fox is information warfare.

Hmmm, I'd love to hear the DOJ's timeline of events, given that Fox News knew re the firing hours before the process was allegedly concluded. https://www.thedailybeast.com/jeff-sessions-fires-fbis-andrew-mccabe-days-before-retirement/ …https://twitter.com/brianstelter/status/974778989796642822 …
