Great. I applaud @probulica's transparency and accountability, but I condemn its rush to publish before confirming. This is what fuels trump's fake news narrative and erodes what little remaining trust the public has in the news media.

You were good until you brought Trump into it. Should have stayed with facts... "This is example of what fuels fake news narrative...." See? All better now without your bias.

Impressive transparency hardly an excuse for damaging, poorly vetted reporting, though. I admire
@ProPublica’s work but this just cannot happen. -
Yes I agree. This is a significant error and pretty much solidified her confirmation.

Very true.

Birds of the same feathers. CNN spread false rumors & now applaud it being false. Smearing, not transparency

This is becoming the new norm for MSM - posting things so fast without checking first to see if true/reporters want to be the 1st to report it/then when wrong they look like fools/ALL you r doing is confirming what POTUS said FAKE NEWS/slow down, get truth & report actual facts

Jeez... pat yourself on the back for doing the decent thing. Shows how far gone your profession is. It should be the norm, requiring no comment from you.

Uh Brian....this is why fake news is a term. Msm is completely predisposed to slam trump and these apologies do nothing. U r praising the arsonist for putting out the fire. When will there be integrity in msm?
-
How does this article slam Trump? It's over a year old
-
Did u hear about this prior to his naming a woman to cia? It was intended to bash his judgement

Damage already done by fakenews cnn 24/7 dissemination. Not propublica fault, your fault for publishing unchecked info, because no due diligence even to check the most tawdry gossip, cnn is worse than the worst supermarket tab.

I assume
#Hannity and the rest of Fox News will slam@ProPublica for their retraction, just as they slammed Mueller for removing Peter Strzok after his anti-Trump texts came to light. -
Yep, Hannity often speaks up when they get something wrong like....oh nevermindhttps://www.npr.org/2017/09/15/551163406/fox-news-has-yet-to-explain-what-what-wrong-in-seth-rich-story …

Problem is it's hard to put fake news genie back in the bottle. Am I right Brian Ross?

What’s impressive is that they didn’t bother to get the facts straight. Inexcusable.
-
What’s inexcusable is not admitting PUBLICLY when you are. WRONG. That is what the WH, the President and his press shop do EVERY day!
-
What does that have to do with the failure of this outlet to check their facts?
-
They were lied to and ran with the story The White House and especially POTUS lie every day. Most publicly they lied about the trade surplus with Canada. That they didn’t know the facts, winged it, and now brag about it to donors “The Damage” is done there to EVERY DAY
-
What does that have to do with what this media outlet did in failing to get the story straight?
-
I told you. Are you unable to parse the English language? They had sources who lied to them. Once they gained info they were lied to they issued a correction When did the Administration ever correct a Trump lie? Sarah Sanders lies every day to cover for him!
-
If you don’t see parallels there then I can’t help you. You must be thinking that politicians lying is without consequence
-
That’s a logical Leap. Yes there are parallels, but parallels never meet. You can analyze one without the other.
