Denver Post editor announcing layoffs: "l'm sure some commenters will cheer what they believe is the eventual demise of the mainstream media, but there is nothing to celebrate when a city has fewer journalists working in it."https://www.denverpost.com/2018/03/14/denver-post-layoffs/ …

Some of it is changing demographics--half my journo students don't read a paper anymore, even online--but some of it is a loss of trust. I continue to believe there is a voracious market for an MSM that tries its damnedest to be fair.

@Joe_twheets I teach journalism. Also perpetrated investigative journalism for years. I tell my students they should not go into stories with preconceived ideas, and they should not inject their opinions into hard news. We should not see the journo's moral filter in his reporting

I was a journalism major. I’m not sure if you’re referring to specific stories, but I believe the media by and large does do it’s damndest. There is a potus who actively manipulated media, with success. He always has.

Every time journos are allowed to be a moral voice--even in dealing with an obvious reprobate like Trump--they are imposing their beliefs on others and disseminating the idea that there's only one way to think about things. All morality becomes political.

Objective journalist are scarce among the MSM propaganda mills. The media went down that road & will have to live with consequences.

Unfortunately people prefer bloggers and vloggers and "news" organizations became "media" organizations and lost journalistic credibility along the way. Extreme bias and a failure to follow the canons/ethics of journalism are a part of the demise.
