Sure, what the president says is newsworthy -- but 75 minutes of live coverage while he bloviates, insults and makes false statements? No way. My column herehttps://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/live-coverage-of-a-pennsylvania-rally-was-another-free-ad-for-trumps-favorite-candidate-himself/2018/03/13/e27e46de-26b4-11e8-874b-d517e912f125_story.html?utm_term=.a98bca93bc34 …

Fair enough, but please explain the reason for this change in broadcast choices. His speeches & the WH press briefings are obviously covered differently than previous administrations, the question is why?
-
Weirdly they cover him exactly the way they did when he was a candidate, then say "We have to. He's the president."

Damnit Brian you know exactly what the criticism is and you’re now being totally disingenuous. You wrestle with it yourself do you. Well bravo for you. And don’t look for cover by saying he’s the Pres. You guys did same damn thing all 2016.

Its cheap lazy air time pure and simple. Since the death of print media Broadcast journalism has lost its traditional source of information and has floundered around in muck like this

what you said is that you think that what is essentially a campaign rally warrants start-to-finish coverage. why? i think you can say, not everything a president says is automatically newsworthy and that covering a campaign rally like an Oval Office broadcast is inappropriate

I think presidential speeches are news events that should be shown live, but I understand the criticism and I wrestle with it myself.
