From a business POV, "Fox Nation" makes lots of sense: Try to make more $$ from the base, direct to consumer, etc. Cable contracts mean Fox can't sell its existing channel on the web, so, it's a parallel channel instead. A lot like ESPN's streaming planhttp://cnnmon.ie/2Gtkg6I

Could it be due in part to perceived vulnerability to advertiser boycott for polemical programming?

Fox News isn’t slant, it’s misinformation. They put out false narratives on a daily basis with no outside expectation to do otherwise.

CNN rarely pushes out verifiable false information and if they do they always issue a correction. Fox does that daily and never issues any corrections. That’s not to say that some people who work at CNN don’t have a slant, but that’s different than peddling lies and conspiracies.

Just like at Fox or MSNBC credibility varies depending on the anchor or talking head. I give high marks to @JohnKingCNN & @DanaBashCNN

In my opinion you can have an opinion/slant and still be credible if what you’re reporting is true. If a Dem does something wrong and Fox calls them out, they may exaggerate it in a slanted way but it doesn’t diminish their credibility if the facts are true. Same for all media.

The problem is when you concoct and promote baseless conspiracies to fit your partisan slant regardless of the facts. Fox does that frequently, most other MSM outlets don’t.

Sean Hannity may be guilty of that but you can’t paint everyone @FoxNews with the same broad-brush. Just like you can’t blame everyone @CNN for Donna Brazile’s shenanigans

Fox is not a fair and balanced media outlet. It is entertainment. And bad entertainment at that.
