Excellent @DKThomp piece: "Quite simply, televised football has a television problem and a football problem..."https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2018/02/super-bowl-nfl-ratings-decline/551861/ …

They are down for the same reason movie ticket sales are. Were tired of being preached to about politics, tired of being denigrated.

It is exactly correct here: "Football’s rise to cultural dominance mirrored the ascent of pay TV as the single best business model in American entertainment history." Time to demonopolize cable. The country loves football. Pay TV throttles it.

Knowing that football players will end up like punchdrunk palookas, and worse, tends to take the charm off the sport.

I'd argue for many as long as the New England Patriots are winning people won't tune in. Nobody outside of Massholes wants to watch the pats win anymore. Not interesting. I'll watch any NFL Except New England games.

Read the NYT article "I’m the Wife of a Former N.F.L. Player. Football Destroyed His Mind." That is why I stopped watching football, it ruins young men's brains and lives. How many men playing Sunday will get chronic traumatic encephalopathy, brain rot?https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/02/opinion/sunday/nfl-cte-brain-damage.html …

I know why. I spend all my time #resisting & worrying rather than relaxing watching football. There are far more important issues that need to be addressed. People are dying because of this administration. We have traitors in our White House. Sports mean nothing to me anymore.
