Problem seems to be media's reflex towards balanc - that's a good thing! But sometimes there's right & wrong. If DT said earth was flat, CNN would book someone to defend him. Cable news is broken because of it. Reluctance to call him racist is a fear of appearing to take sides.

Racist is as racist does. Someone who is not racist not only doesn't make racist comments, they don't even THINK them Racist is as racist does. Racists hoard tons of excuses and explanations for why what they say/do isn't racist--defining racism fm a white POV, ➡️

...because they assume only whites have the authority to define what racism is, and so if they themselves don't fit into the definition they have created, they can't possibly be racist. Except the very act of assuming white people have the authority to define racism is racist.

Racism is EXPERIENCED, and it goes far beyond job discrimination, housing discrimination, and all the other discriminations most white people think of as racist. Those ARE racist, but there is so much more to racism than that. It's a whole pervasive culture...

White people experience racist culture differently from the way PoC experience it. White people believe that there's hardly any racism in the country because THEY DON'T EXPERIENCE IT. And when they do observe it, they say 'why make a big deal out of such a small thing.'

They see it as a small thing because they aren't bombarded w/it every day of their lives. PoC experience racism not ONLY as discrimination, but ALSO as the thousands of tiny pricks of a pin jabbed into their hearts daily by oblivious 'nice' white people.

Each incident on its own is no big deal. But collectively, every day of your life and in the lives of your loved ones? When a PoC says you are racist, or have acted out of racist thoughts/feelings, It means you have just made your own contribution to that massive collection.

Half the country doesn’t care about his shit hole comments. I don’t and I’m an immigrant. We should be more concerned that he doesn’t understand immigration. In general he doesn’t understand lots of things yet he is our prez. Shame on us not him.
