What do you say about Haberman appearing on CNN multiple times badmouthing Wolff's character & his book, without revealing that she's working on her own trump book so has a conflict-of-interest reviewing him? That is unethical of Haberman & CNN.

Has anybody looked into how media literacy affects general satisfaction with the press? We always hear these shockingly low numbers of trust in it, but never about the respondents' media diets and what they actually know about journalism.

And there’re still misunderstandings on the part of some journalists about readers & how they encounter/read/digest news. This isn’t one-sided. (Side note: Her Twitter presence does her work no favors. She’s combative, egotistical and generally unpleasant & people react to that.)

I strongly believe lack of media literacy is a primary reason the country is so divided.
-
The news now is activism, not journalism, with almost all leaning way left. Gone are the days if real journalism.

Oh yes please educate us poor, ignorant readers/viewers so we can understand how amazing and above criticism you all are. But while you are at it please explain
@nytimes grossly disproportionate coverage of "but her emails." That I truly don't understand.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Many news orgs that mix investigative work with puff pieces. Hard to 100% believe a meaty scoop when same org has called Ivanka "the Climate Czar" and did umpteen puff pieces on Jared. Looking at you, Politico.

Are there really misunderstandings? Or do journalists just not realize what they look like from the outside? One of the big frustrations I've seen re media is that journos just don't get it. It seems they've taken this to mean they need to interview more Trump voters.
-
The problem isn't that they don't understand diner patrons. The problem is they don't understand they themselves played a key part in making the country as divided as it is today *and have done nothing to address it.*
-
For all intents and purposes we're still in the same media landscape as we were last year and the bull-headed defenses from journos at NYT/CNN that they are now and were always above reproach is truly galling.

If you are identifying this as a problem, why doesn't CNN help educate viewers/readers and produce a special to explain the journalistic processes? I, for one, would find this very interesting--a behind the scenes look into how news is gathered, a la All The President's Men.
