Of course everyone loves Oprah but let's get a real politician next time. Sheesh, we're like puppies at the rescue shelter wagging our tails at anyone who'll smile at us

Can you qualify what you mean by "politician"? I view leadership and intelligence as the primary qualifications. Someone who will surround themselves with experts in each area. Not jumping on the Oprah2020 train just yet, but not sure I agree with you, seeking clarification.

Oprah would have great leadership which is important domestically but knowledge of government and foreign policy should be a requirement as well

Completely agree. Knowledge of the actual job & how govt works is key, even if you want to shake things up. It's not to say she shdn't run but if she does, she shd spend the next 3 years boning up. Which I'm sure she will.

The rs will be running celebrities because it worked and they will continue to do so even if we say it's a disqualifier.

Which is pure irony given how they derided the CLintons and Obama for their "Hollywood elite" circle.

No it isn't. Politics is not entertainment, as we have just seen. If #Oprah is serious, she needs to do a lot of homework btwn now & running. You can't just "surround y.self w experts". You need to know the job.

Also political success depends on ability to persuade disparate groups to act as one, on behalf of interests larger than their own. Takes relentless persuasion, much of it behind the scenes and unrewarded. Entirely different from what drives entertainers.

Sadly, we haven't seen that in a while. Biden would have been good for that.
