Wonder if a reason for the sloppy mistakes (spelling, missing words, incorrect facts) in #FireandFury was the rush to print it ahead of schedule? @brianstelter @gabrielsherman @davidfolkenflik

Given the expected attacks from critics, it's a step that would've been wise. Any example to question credibility was going to be exploited. Cheers

Maybe it is an homage to the Trump WH. Riddled with mistakes, half truths & lies with nuggets of real true events that provide a window into the administration.

Sadly, publishers these days are less inclined to pay for careful editing. Books used to go through at least two copyeditors and a proofreader, all working on hard copy. Now it's likely to be one person beside the writer and all done onscreen (harder to spot errors) for cheap.

I can't say that was done with Wolff's book but it seems likely. Meanwhile, many publishers outsource the work to firms that pay less than publishers paid their freelance editors in the 80s. The old printers' slogan: "Fast, cheap, well - pick two."

Strike while the iron is hot. Only a couple of days at best before the media are off chasing another chimera.
