Maybe because it’s an actual crap bill. If it was a good bill it would be easier to talking about it positively.

Yup. Seems Brian is just promoting BS talking points. MSM in a nutshell. Report facts, not spin. Publish truth, not agendas.

This take is utter nonsense. The propaganda started with the GOP which calls this "The Tax Cut & Jobs Act" when the bill does neither. The "tax cuts for the rich" meme comes from every non partisan agency (including the Republican controlled CBO) that scored/analyzed it.

Brian - Just because someone is properly credentialed does NOT mean objective journalism means printing their words withiit context of how dishonest those words are.
-
WHY can't journalists stop saying 'Side A says X but Side B says Y' when X is truth and Y is groundless? You aren't being bias by holding people to a standard of truth telling.

If the tax bill is so complicated and nuanced, why was it slapped together in a couple weeks, no hearings, and passed in the dead of night?

83 percent of the benefits go to the top 1 percent of income distribution. The AP's is an extremely accurate and entirely fair depiction.

Take media coverage of racist game show host Don Trump, a self-admitted sexual assaulter who plead out fraud charges and drove multiple businesses to bankruptcy. I just described him objectively. I didn't even mention his ignorance and tax evasion.

That's not negative. That's honest. Now when I call him a con man or a carnival barker, that's when it starts to become a portrayal. I think well-founded, but that's when my judgement comes in.

Is this a joke? The "media" was reporting that this bill is skewed heavily towards tax cuts for the rich because under any OBJECTIVE MEASURE THIS BILL IS SKEWED TOWARDS TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH!!!

So let me guess the media can't show us the facts? Especially when we can see that the bill not only benefits rich people, but certain senators? C'mon

Who thought tax cuts for the rich would be popular?

The same people who only talk to the rich

If the GOP was proud of this bill, they'd have held hearings, listened to testimony, held town hall meeting with constituents, begged for CBO scoring & would have puffed out their chests in floor debates preening for C-SPAN cameras. The fact they did none of that speaks volumes.

Okay, but despite what’s in the complicated bill/hard to explain to regular people, why the secrecy? Why the rush? Why not reasoned, bipartisan debate? Don’t blame the media for the ham-fisted way the GOP operated.
