Also @JimMiller says his contract wasn’t renewed one month ago, just that it was made public a month ago...

don't have to be a genius to see a sexual assault/harassment allegation in the hours/days to follow. This is his poor attempt at an explanation
-
Fishy. Men would rather hide behind "substance abuse" than confront the huge sexual harassment problem amongst their own.

Glad to see John Skipper being pre-emptive and trying to take control of his life above all else. Best of luck, John, in your recovery!

did he ever consider taking a medical leave to address the issue? That is pretty standard, and the medical reason would never need to be disclosed. Instead he outright quits?
-
I have no inside info obviously and don't want to speculate on John specifically but one would have to assume with everything swirling around ESPN he didn't want that kind of distraction/cloud looming over them. Can let ESPN run on its own while he fights private battle.
-
If they thought this would be less of a distraction then this was a gross miscalculation on their part. First, 18-35 demo who is going to jump on this for Barstool purposes, plus the rest of the culture wrapped up in harassment talks. Why not just take a private medical leave?
-
I actually think you won't see the 18-35/Barstool people go nuts over this. The dude may have just saved his life by deciding to take this on. Tough to argue against that, especially since many 18-35 yr olds are losing people they know b/c of the opiod crisis.
-
follow Barstool today and what they spin this as. and I'm not saying this isn't a real issue or one he shouldn't deal with. It's serious. But unless he comes out with a full detailed story, this plays as a cover-up where a medical leave severs the exact purpose to get him help

Or it's a bullshit excuse and coverup for deeper seeded issues that are starting to come to light at ESPN...

Could “substance abuse” be a cover story for some sort of sex scandal?
