    Brian Stelter Retweeted Sheldon Whitehouse

This vid from a Democratic senator has lit up Twitter — and you can see why. It gets really awkward around the 2:15 mark.https://twitter.com/senwhitehouse/status/941484131757838337 …

Gotcha. I see you said “from” now. Stunning piece of video; hard to believe a candidate would subject himself to that kind of basic questioning. It’d be like my 10-year-old granddaughter showing up at the DMV ready to take her driving test with only booster seat experience. 😳

And let’s be clear: motions in limine are among the MOST basic of trial motions. “Daubert” is the “Miranda” opinion on expert testimony (you know, something that’s unlikely to come up in federal litigation; oh wait, I forgot IT COMES UP ALL THE TIME IN FEDERAL COURT!!!).

He has picked idealogues to fill important judicial seats, who like this person have no real known qualifications for the job. This will inflict the judiciary with a cancer of ignorance, hate &the opportunity to roll back important protections. This is the unmaking of US law.

And at the end of this crap show, a US senator asks a group of US District Judge nominees if they've ever blogged in support of the KKK. Because with the guy who nominated them, you just never know?

The fact that there is a political calculus in the nomination of judges is neither surprising nor offensive. What is offensive is that Trump has put up so many nominees who are so clearly out of their depth. Could they seriously not find a better qualified nominee? Sad!
