You're saying a third-party reading a memo off their phone to a reporter constitutes journalism?

Tim, cmon. The NYT did more than that, but yes, reporting the existence of a memo is valuable journalism

A statement from a third-party that the New York Times did not view and was told it could not be corroborated. That's responsible imo.

Comey's perspective is important to report. That's what the NYT did. Editors knew the reporter's sources, etc. Journalism 101!

this is the alleged perspective of Comey that was told by a third-party to a reporter who did not view the memo.

No, the NYT story is based on more than that. Big newsrooms don't print this stuff without a whole lot of work behind the scenes

Guess that is the challenge, what are they doing behind the scenes that I should trust?

You can see that the standards for journalism have fallen. Outrage, clickbait and ad-revenue is what matters, not producing evidence.

doesn't need an open hearing to do that, it just makes it so he can't answer a bunch of questions (already been in 2 open hearings)

he didn't go to the scheduled Senate closed hearing (now open), couple websites (no quotes admittedly) saying Comey only wants open hearings
