2/ whether to run an anonymous quote, there's an art-not-science balancing act. Is the quote important enough to the story to let the
3/ the person go nameless? What is it adding to the story? In this case, all it is is a threat. It doesn't contain any information that
4/ isn't in the rest of the story, w/possible exception of the implication that campaign will sue women who come forward, which can be
5/ worked into the story in a different way. Basically, this source got CNN to use them to broadcast a thuggish threat. I would have said
6/ no, I'm not printing that unless I can use your name, thinking (to myself) that if they want to make a threat like that, they should
7/7 be willing to stand behind it. I'm just failing to see any justification for anonymity here, though others may disagree.
