@daveweigel in other words let media bloviate on horse race, "messaging" & nonstories, b/c voters can look at their websites?
-
-
-
no. "media" is many things, and many news outlets have awesome in-depth stories about policy on their web sites
-
in print, yes- but not broadcast. And other print stories r waste of column inches. So can't just blame voters.

your network's anchors have literally spent months allowing Trump surrogates claim HRC has no policy positions, often agreeing

I think
@brianstetler's employers mayn't've realized that they were repeating GOP fiction from the 90s.@Fishbooom@brianstelter -
oh, they know. They get it straight from the horses mouth and call it "ppl are saying"
-
That was once only heard on FOX News lead-ins. It's all TMZ, now. Revenue beats journalism

@daveweigel Being knowledgeable only allows me to be more frustrated by the lowered standards of the media. No excuses.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Not because they're too lazy to listen. It's because policy issues don't attract as many viewers. Bottom line is $.

Sure, but it doesn't pay the cable bills like a mediocre Trump of the day story does. So guess what's reported?

Coverage of issues? Getting way worse.

why is this not covered then. I know Clinton's policy because of local media and her page. TV is devoid of it.

@daveweigel 'Access' is not the same as 'coverage'Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

But do u think the coverage is weighted toward polling, latest inflammatory comment, "scandal" at the expense of policy?
-
Example - hidden nugget in this AM's AP story: Trump would have refused to participate in G20 in aftermath of airport welcome.

Why do many cable news viewers feel as if they are not well informed on policy? Because Cable covers spectacle over substance.

Too bad you can't translate all of that 'access' into words other than 'horse race', 'cloud', 'shadow', 'emails', etc,

@daveweigel Having access to and actually reporting on them are very different things.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

You have access to more policy than ever but it doesn't get reported. I'm an avid news watcher who missed hearing HRC policies
