An initial hearing in CNN v. Trump is starting now. CNN and Acosta's lawyers are asking Judge Timothy J. Kelly for a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction that would restore his press pass right away.http://www.cnn.com/2018/11/14/media/trump-response-cnn-lawsuit/index.html …

I can not believe there are Americans who don't understand why free press is important. The WH belongs to the people of America. Trump, Sanders, Conway ... all work for us, the taxpayers. Sanders/Trump from day 1 has disrespected the press for asking for clarification re: lies.

How does one get a press pass? Is there a form to be filled out and approved or do news outlets just decide who they want there?
-
There's actually a process. You have to have a press pass for the House and Senate; you have to get a background check (the Secret Service requires that) and there's some other stuff, I believe. (I looked it up and... Yeah, there's not much out there about how to get one!)
-
Well I figured a background check, I was trying to get at if WH has to approve them (in which case they would revoke it) or if the network/ newspaper decides who they want to report from WH
-
As far as I know, the WH doesn't get a say. It was the subject of a lawsuit in the '70's; the WH lost. The loss said the WH *could* revoke a press pass, but only for a valid reason and only after a due process. I'll see if I can find the article.
-
Here it is! (Jeez, I had to try a few search queries... And I had a rough idea what I was looking for! If you tried googling it, Google probably didn't "surface" the article.)https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/11/legality-revoking-jim-acostas-press-pass/575479/ …

Trump knows he will lose this. He doesn't care either way because he knows his base has his back regardless. My question is will Jim ever get called on again once he's back? Can they simply ignore him at press conferences?
-
I hope CNN wins and Costa says "no thanks!" That would be an epic snub.

Although that may get him in the room, doesn't mean he'll get a question...or two ? They'll both ignore him, especially her !!

Will they see the entire video or cut it off like CNN did? Acosta doesn't have the right to be in the White House.... give him a hour on CNN and let him rant.
