The Trump administration, in a sharp break with decades of tradition, is asserting that it has "broad discretion" to limit reporter access to the White House. Past admins, both Republican and Democratic, have had a permissive approach to press passes.http://www.cnn.com/2018/11/14/media/trump-response-cnn-lawsuit/index.html …

Sam Donaldson's point: If a news outlet chooses a reporter to cover the White House, and the president is able to veto the reporter, "then the press is not free" http://cnn.it/2qLbBXF pic.twitter.com/vM44wh8ox5

Won’t @Acosta be at the WH event this afternoon? He can still apply for a daily pass. He was just overseas with the President in Paris.

No. He was denied a day pass last week. And denied access in France.

You’re ignoring that the actions of the White House create a dangerous precedent for any journalist trying to cover the White House/elected officials.

Duh, no kidding, Brian. And what is the first thing Authoritarian regimes do...they destroy the free press. Anyone who does not recognize that this is what @realdonaldtrump is doing is a bit slow. Good thing is that all the networks that joined in the suit...must stay united.

Then why are we the alternative media denied passes Brian? We are media outlets too... I'd say even more important than you and your organization, since we are not paid for by big corporate sponsors.

Including the last one that locked and spied on a journalist. There is video of president obama kicking out a journalist for acting like @Acosta and journalists cheering. Do you deny this? Can you explain it? Does your hatred for the president have to do with this?

I don't know about any of that legal First Amendment stuff, but what I do know is that I'm awful concerned about how much time #POTUS must be spending in his presidential tanning booth. Doesn't he know that excessive tanning can lead to skin cancer? I'm worried for his health!
