Seems like? It is a direct attack on the First Amendment. The purpose of that Constitutional protection is to make sure everyone knows what government is doing. Limiting press access to friendly reporters is a direct assault on the foundation of our nation.

Speaking of assault...

No one, not even the President can circumvent the Constitution, in this case, the 1st and 5th Amendments. There is a very good reason that the press is protected, circumstances like this being one of the main ones. Here is yet another court case Trump will lose. Tantrum coming!
-
The White House has to have the ability to control the proceedings and behavior such as Acosta's can not be allowed to continue. Like children, you have to nip it in the bud or people begin to believe it's acceptable.
-
Granted, Acosta's style can be perceived as aggressive, but I'm old enough to remember many other reporters over the years that were much more so. I would agree that all of the heat should be turned down, by everyone involved, but the Constitution needs to be upheld in all cases.
-
CNN still has access to the White House press briefings. It doesn't say in the Constitution that Jim Acosta has a right to be there just the same as if he was kicked out of Walmart. Thxx for your comment.

Where did you get your Constitutional law degree?

There is no First Amendment 'right' to access. How do we define journalist? Is Alex Jones a journalist? He'd say yes. Also, if a journalist were to threaten a POTUS or commit a violent crime on WH grounds, there should be no barrier to his access?
-
A threat or violence would end up being arrested. 2 completely different things
-
Sure, the person would be arrested, but if the media is going to argue that the WH should never be able to limit the access of any 'journalist', then they run into that problem. What happens after the journo is released? Still out or good to go?
-
Of course the journalist would still be out. Most likely wouldn't have the same job, if they did do any of what you mention. I don't think they are arguing never, if warranted then yes. Most major news sources now have agreed with this,
-
But, that's not what the press is arguing. There are taking an absolutist position. Acosta hogged the microphone and was arguing his own position instead of simply asking a question, getting an answer, and ceding the floor to his fellow journalists.
