Nailbiters. Upsets. Concessions. Victories. Transfers of power. The system has lots and lots of flaws, but there's also a lot to admire.

Some of the genocidal fascists won, while others lost. What matters, in the end, is that all were allowed to play the game, by the rules set by the fascists

If you want narrative may I suggest becoming a sports fan? This is serious shit with real world implications. What would be admirable is a system designed to represent the people effectively.

It comes across as tone deaf Brian. Peoples lives are at stake. That tweet could *easily* be construed as a sports comment too.Sports have "nailbiters" "upsets" "transfer of power" etc. Those parallels, intentional or not, + media's horse-race political coverage is a problem.

A “system” that continues to allow, and has allowed, active voter suppression, further disenfranchisement of people of color & women and more (because actually listing all of the wrongs of this system would probably break Twitter) is something to admire? OK.

The 'flaws' in our system include hostility to democracy and overt racism in places such as Kansas, Georgia, Florida, N. Dakota etc. Although the possibility of democracy in US was saved tonight, there's not a damn thing to admire about the state of democracy in the US right now.

The US doesn't remotely resemble a free country as long as people running for governor get to be in charge of oversight of their own damn election. If you can't see that you don't deserve your job. We're in the fight of our lives for democracy. Wake the hell up!
