The @NYTMag just released NEXT Sunday's cover story a week early... in light of recent events... "How law enforcement failed to see the threat of white nationalism." http://nyti.ms/2Dj40rr pic.twitter.com/ug3u7Zayzz

Not sure this captures the entire reality. Law enforcement has seen it. But when political leaders tacitly and explicitly embrace some of these characters, it’s hard to blame law enforcement entirely. They’ll be hauled into hearings and accused of political bias.

And efforts to identify right-wing extremism get politicized as attacking Republicans. That’s what happened in 2009 with that DHS report.

In some cases true. In Portland law enforcement was even in the side of the Patriot prayer folks.

It's more than law enforcement. There's been denial or blindness in multiple areas that have intersectional influence. Those who've tried to name it explicitly, call it out, & give warning to the rise of white nationalism the past 3 yrs have been called hyperbolic. Shine a light

Local Law Enforcement has been infiltrated by KKK, Proud boys, etc. many reliable sources have documented the trend starting in the 60s after the civil rights act. Federal level distracted by the outside terrorist threat didn’t see the tentacles coming from local cops who enable.

How many times have we heard of law enforcement using department texting to talk about "monkeys" and "gorillas in the mist" and etc. when talking about black people? How many racial profiling accusations have we had? How many unarmed shootings? Police are part of the problem.
