In the home stretch "the two parties are not so much debating as talking past one another," @mviser writes. "Trump continues to hammer away on immigration with little response from Democratic leaders, while Dems remain almost solely focused on health care."https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-self-described-nationalist-turns-midterms-into-a-forum-on-american-identity/2018/10/30/dd3a418a-dc4b-11e8-b732-3c72cbf131f2_story.html …

Dems know trump is blowing smoke up America's behinds; a ploy to rally his base. Healthcare is ON THE LINE, so yes, it is headlining the midterms.

And this take ignores the fact that one party has remained pretty focused on one area, while the other has had to change tack because nothing else is working

What causes more divisiveness in America? (1) Trump or (2) Identity Politics Those who practice (2) are naïve enough to think that removing (1) will be the quick-fix to the long-term problem that they themselves have created—a problem which in fact will take years to solve.

The Dems are not focused on health care, it’s an excuse to avoid talking abt the 2 caravans heading our way. Trump is the President, his job is to protect Americans, not illegals. The Dems are losing on this issue & they know it so the MSM is doing their bidding. It’s obvious.

Remind me @brianstelter: Which party basically re-wrote the health-care system less than a decade ago with zero input from the other side? If health care is so bad that it's their sole focus, who then do we blame for the current predicament? If only a journalist were around...

I'm guessing no journalist is covering the event your describing because it only happened in right wing fantasy land. Which is why Democrats should stick to their plan of sticking to reality. It's the only way to get the country back on track.

Yes, Obama signed it into law. But if you think Republicans had no input during that process, you're living in another dimension. A dimension of lies. So probably the Fox News dimension.

Yeah, Obama made that big show of having a sit-down. And then incorporated none of their suggestions. Which is why no Republican voted for the final version. The stink is all on Democrats.

-It's a Republican plan. Romney drew it up. -14 bipartisan round-table meetings and 13 public hearings were held. -Democrats on that committee accepted 160 Republican amendments to the bill.

If O-care was a Republican plan (as the Dem talking point says), then you'd have no issue w/ people describing Trump's Birthright Citizenship as a Democratic plan. Right? Doesn't matter Reid changed his mind later. So did Republicans re: Health Carehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFO0fRxsuY4 …
