Yes, @DixonTim says, there's "profound polarization between what we call the wings, the more extreme voices, the very strident voices of the right and left." But most Americans are in the "exhausted majority." And they feel "left out of the conversation."https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/reliable-sources-with-brian-stelter/id466789756?mt=2 …

Spot on. Most Americans are open to compromise & bipartisan solutions. So why are the extremes on both sides getting all the media coverage, and worse, winning. Mostly because those extremes have now learned to manipulate the media. The media has let most people down. Big time.

Because news divisions went from loss leaders, i.e., a public service, to profit centers, i.e., ratings hungry.

Don't buy it. Conservatives feel perfectly comfortable with their extremes, with the exception of Never Trumpers, who still blame dems for Trump, not "extremists."

This is too simple. Plenty of people in the middle- like me- who have made it a life goal that Trump be kicked out- one way or another.

Highly recommend watching the documentary "The Brainwashing of My Dad," which explains how and why the media became so partisan. The other cause was turning the news divisions into profit centers; it wasn't always thus.

Tim Dixon how to snag the “exhausted majority“ When Gillard toppled Rudd, she abandoned all the policies to which conservatives had been most hostile; when Rudd unseated Gillard, he did exactly the same – two rival PMs, each more rightwing than the other.https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/sep/06/infighting-rudd-gillard-election-victory …

Fake news makes up division. I am 🇨🇦 visited US this summer, all people orderly and getting along fine. We even rode on water ride with fully covered muslims and us in bathing suits. Lots of flags proudly didplayed.

Nonsense! Thanks to social media anyone can be as involved or not as they want to be. No more going through the Letters to the Editor filter. Plus being able to call out the pols and media for their lies and #FakeNews. Though #twitter #Google #censorship is becoming a problem.pic.twitter.com/WFARtk4epg
