TV journalists standing out in the rain and wind is a staple of hurricane coverage. Some viewers love it, others think it's ridiculous. No matter what you think, Wednesday showed the limits of those spectacular live shots --> http://mailchi.mp/cnn/rs-oct-10-2018 …

There’s literally weathermen out there PRETENDING the winds blowing 🤦‍♀️ (not this storm, the last storm) ummm, pretty sure I don’t trust you or your network @CNN

It IS ridiculously. No one is going to look for a reporter being blown by the wind to determine how dangerous a storm is.

From what I saw livestreaming storm chasers had the most amazing footage.

We have advantages in technology that will show us the devastation of the hurricane without putting reporters lives in the line. It’s ridiculous and dangerous.

The silence from CNN about these comments is appalling. If this happened on a conservative network, all hell would be raining down. https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1050099273617027073 …

Hurricane coverage is emblematic of CNN: a stupid spectacle where an anchor is in the middle of a storm saying obvious things like “the storm is powerful; it’s flooding; it’s windy.” Sunday, Reliable Sources: “We debate whether this stupid thing is stupid— from all perspectives.”

Frankly, I think coverage of the storms is just plain excessive. There's too much else going on these days to spend so much time on endless, repetitive hurricane live shots with little real content.
