I admire Koppel, but I think the cable news biz is a lot more complex than he makes it seem. Ratings rise, ratings fall. Stories come, stories go. It's important to cover Trump and it's important to cover what comes next.https://twitter.com/Mediaite/status/1047467375975645186 …

But not important to have known liars like Giuliani and Conway on week after week, using a “news” platform to spread disinformation. Credible news outlets will denounce this practice. Anyone on either side who uses “news” to spread lies in bad faith shd be banned.

Exactly why I stopped @CNN The political tennis match in lieu of news and facts gave me headaches.

Problem is you don’t “cover trump” you trash trump. “Cover” would mean you cover the good and the bad. You Only cover the bad so it’s not really “coverage”. And yes, That has an impact on ratings!

So you gently poo-poo Koppel's take, while at the same time your network has Dan Rather on as a frequent guest (I guess CNN thinks he's an elder statesman of journalism, or something) even though Rather was let go from CBS because of his conduct leading up to the 2004 election.

Gotta love the guy lecturing Ted Koppel about the complexities of the TV news biz also commenting that a 30% to 40% drop in ratings wouldn't matter much.

Sorry Brian, but more and more are finally stepping up on the left calling CNN out. Koppel isn't the first. Jeff Greenfield recently said same thing. CNN has become the Trump News Network. It's really saturated and tiresome.

I stopped watching FoxNews in 2016 because too much Trump brown nosing. I switched to CNN. Now I’m about to stop watching them for too much Trump coverage period! SMH. It’s what he wants. Every child will take bad attention over no attention!

How can you simultaneously cover him 24/7 and state he has no effect on the network’s ratings?

Brian, you need to reflect and have some humility in this case. Ted was right. Sometimes I can’t watch CNN because its just about 24hrs of Trump less a major catastrophe. I do want to know about the economy etc...but can’t get it at CNN. Please report more of the news.

Yes, Trump important but there are other issues out there. Bottom line, I change the channel every time I see three Guests arguing about the latest Trump controversy.

You guys are Trump TV... There’s a lot of news worthy things going on here in the US but you guys are all Trump all the time. I see more US news locally than I see from the cable news networks. Trump throws a ball and you guys chase it every time.

Yeah, I doubt Koppel has the intelligence to understand its complexities. Seriously? This is ludicrous. He made a valid point.
