"We had 1000s of documents. 100s of tax returns," @susannecraig told me. "Piecing all that together, understanding what they did, was beyond hard." Here's the story behind the NYT's Trump tax storyhttp://money.cnn.com/2018/10/02/media/reliable-sources-10-02-18/index.html …

He and his family have been audited many many many times. You mean to tell me all the audits the IRS did they missed this and 2 NY times journalists found it. Haha give me a break!!!

I think you’re misunderstanding the difference between someone saying they’re being audited and actually being audited. If you have shell companies, each one has its own set of books which (individually) may look correct. It’s tying it together that’s the hard part. 1/

I have 2 LLC’s and one sub chapter S corporation. On their own, they’re fine, but if you were to look at how money runs through then you’ll find some problems. I’ve been audited 7 times and ended up owing money 4 of those times. Conversely, 3 times I got a refund.

When I saw “I’m under audit” I mean that the IRS is looking at my taxes. When someone who has 100+ shell companies says “I’m under audit” it means they’re doing an “internal audit” to determine if there’s any exposure. It’s slight of hand, and pay better attention.

Ok, so has the IRS found any illegality in these shell companies? Because if you look at his tax documents that have been released it’s shows he has paid more taxes then amazon and many others.

First of all, that’s not true. He hasn’t released any tax documents of his own. Secondly, the only two public tax statements we have are from 1995 & 2005 on showing a $900M loss and the other a normal tax rate on apprentice salary money. And the IRS isn’t the problem, it’s the 1/

FinCen division of treasury that would investigate those type of things. The IRS would refer to them for forensic work. Amazon’s 10Q stayed a tax rate of 17.8% I believe which is low, but normal for a company of that size, which until recently lost money nearly every quarter

You’ve got to learn how this stuff works. I have an MBA in finance, if you’re skilled enough and crooked enough you can create structures so opaque that they take a decade to unravel. See Enron for the best example.

Wow imagine if the @nytimes has spent this much time on digging into Trump's finances in 2016 as they did trying to validate the claims in Clinton's cash And how did Trump file bankruptcy if he is still receiving income from his Father's estate as of today?

This is all well and good, thing is - It means nothing. His supporters will still support him and his haters already hated him. The only thing accomplished is to further the idea that the media at large, have an anti-Trump vendetta.

If there was ever a news story that demonstrated society's need for a free and unfettered press, this is it. They dug up what the IRS overlooked or ignored. I was floored by the detail in this report. Democrats taking the House will be Trump's worst nightmare.

So the NYTimes was one of the first newspapers to glorify Trump as some billionaire businessman. They kept this BS charade going for decades. Never bothering to dig in to any of his criminal behavior BUT now they’ve uncovered the real story. Only took 40 years!
