I love podcasts but I wish they were just words I could read on my phone

Google's Speech to Text API is pretty darn powerful https://cloud.google.com/speech-to-text/ Tools built on top of this API - like
@descriptapp - do a pretty darn good job taking a podcast (any audio) file and within seconds turn it into a fully editable (and searchable) text file. -
But how good is it? My impression of most of those AI transcriptions is that they are about 80% reliable, but that's still a pretty big gap
-
It's surprisingly great.
@WebBarr and I have used it to edit "uhs" and other assorted mumbles from our feeble attempts at podcasting... I'm blown away by the accuracy and consistency of these transcripts -
Descript is an incredible tool that allows me to edit our podcast much faster & accurately than I would just listening
-
Interesting! I will have to check it out. I have tried many and they always come up short

highly disagree. podcasts should be ephemeral, spontaneous. otherwise, it’s a blog post.

I agree with this. I live in a very rural area where high speed internet to stream a podcast is either not available or only allows for a small amount of data. Transcripts are amazing for us out here!
