I think it's just a normal, necessary FEMA test. The wireless alert tech dates back to 2012. But the wording of the test, "Presidential Alert," is problematic because only 3 in 10 Americans think the president is trustworthy.https://twitter.com/AmyCzimer/status/1041309809528721408 …

What do you think of the “Presidential Alert” that every one of us will be getting on Thursday?? How did they get our cell phone numbers? Is this a way for #TrumpTheTerrible to be able to communicate with everyone about political and campaign issues??

was this always the name for it since the TV/R version is the emergency broadcast system or did the name change in the past few months? who exactly has access to this create any message? understand the need for it in a phone driven society but would hate to see it abused

I want you to take one moment Brian and consider it's 2003, the George W Bush Terror Alert system is created, and George knowing re-election is going to be brutal has the ability to send these alerts to every cellphone owner in America in the runup to the election. See it's not

"political" per se, but it's done in an increasing pattern, to where right before the election every cellphone in America is getting and Orange and or Red Alert daily and even on election day. Do you see, can you interpret how it can be used to manipulate and gaslight people?

Trump has never played by the rules, regardless of who created them. He's a known liar, I think we're at 5015 or so now, he doesn't follow any precedent and how anyone thinks Trump won't abuse this access is pure naivety in my mind. His march towards Authoritarianism is a factor

Now is not the time to be doing this. The last person I want to hear from over some short form electronic communication is this president. It's like Twitter but paid for by the government. i don't trust him and I don't trust him to use it responsibly.

I can think of no reason why we need a Presidential Alert, unless it's to tell us that trump has resigned.

I don't mind seeing Emergency Alerts or Amber Alerts, but the only Presidential Alert I want to see on my phone is: "PRESIDENTIAL ALERT (1/2): VP Pence has invoked the 25th amendment and been sworn in as POTUS" "PRESIDENTIAL ALERT (2/2): President Pence has resigned"

No, they do NOT!!! Most Americans can't stand him! His approvals are in the mid 30's, in most polls. You must be looking at the ONE poll, Rasmussen, which always has him above 45%, and which other pollsters dismiss.

There's nothing normal or necessary about FEMA putting a message from the U.S. dictator on our phones. It's Orwellian.
