When you tell someone you oversee to “cover you fairly” in harsh terms... it seems like there is an implication that if they write something that reflects negatively you might view it as “unfair” and punish them.

So basically, he tried to use his power as a weapon. Over an investigation of he.....using his power as a weapon. Sexually and also in terms of poor treatment of staff. Yeah. Put 2+2 together. He couldn't help himself.

“It wasn’t my fault, *maybe* I spoke too harshly but I was just defending myself and the outcome was unfair to me.” That’s very efficient use of abuser language.

After all the years of "explanations" made by individuals featured on 60 minutes, you would think he would have a more compelling story.

I doubt this text message was the cause for his dismissal, but from this note I understand the text to be profane and inappropriate. When you're a senior executive in a company you don't send an employee a profane and inappropriate demand. Period.

Yeah actually - no. I have been in news biz 30 years -I never speak to anyone harshly -nor do I respond to "harsh demands." Jeff Fager wasn't even a particularly exceptional news producer. Good riddance to the reign of ancient thinking and embedded patriarchy at

His 'spin' is pathetic. He's like - hey, I just verbally abused that one!

This exit statement is pitiful and delusional -- not quite what I'd expect from a "great journalist."
