New CNN poll shows Trump with 42% approval. This is "the first time that CNN polling has found Trump's approval rating above that of one of his predecessors at the same point in their presidency." Carter, Clinton were at 39% at this point. Reagan at 41%.https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/14/politics/cnn-poll-trump-russia-election/index.html …

These polls are ludicrous. Find me one person who didn't approve of Trump 4 months ago but now suddenly does. I'll wait.

Black support for Trump has doubled. Hispanic support has gone from 39% to 45%. Do they count as people?

Given the relative health of the economy, its astonishingly low, and attributable to how much he is despised by decent people who are still a majority.

note that Nixon's rating was 55% at this point i.e before he was impeached & removed.

        (A) - Nixon was never impeached and, (2) - At this point in Nixon's presidency he was still 3 years away from Watergate and 4 years away from resigning.

my point is that a President's temporal polling 'popularity' is no indicator of future success and historical celebration.

If the media would inform Americans about the terrible policy’s that Trump and the GOP are inflicting on us instead of the same tired panels of Trump psychopaths, his ratings just might be different. We need media to care about people not cheap ratings. Do better!

But was the size & demographics of the target group surveyed the same used for each president? I've heard the current number of those claiming to be GOP has been diminishing, if true, 42% approval from 50 is not the same as 42% of 5000.
