That's a great reply at insulting the motives of those who offer critiques.

Most anyone who heard the interview did not think npr or the interviewer was in favor of Kessler's view. My question to NPR was: what purpose did NPR want to serve in interviewing Kessler for its audience and how did the interview serve that purpose?
-
And there was one point of the interview: Kessler's pushback that he did not invite David Duke, was lie as
@studentactivism has the emails and surely so did NPR?https://twitter.com/studentactivism/status/1027939721903833091 … - 1 more reply

Not always. To interview a lone scientist climate-changer denier distorts perception. "If someone says it's raining, and another person says it's dry, it's not your job to quote them both. Your job is to look out the fucking window and find out which is true." -Sally Claire

NPR defense of its reporting: Reporting isn't necessary, we just give the subject a mic and let him talk.

Kudos
@NPR! Journalists must not apologize to ANYONE for doing their job - which is to ask questions and then present the facts objectively. This culture of demonizing journalists for presenting facts, facts that may be repugnant and contrary to one's personal beliefs, is wrong. -
Wrong. False equivalence is context gone mad, and it's not journalism. "Hitler and Gandhi: We examine both sides."
-
I disagree. As NPR’s statement so perfectly stated, asking questions does not mean the interviewer, network or organization is endorsing one view over another. Journalists ask questions of everyone. Good/bad and everyone in between. Not examining both sides, it’s questioning.
-
Bullshit. It’s not journalism, it’s just lazy reporting. "If someone says it's raining, and another person says it's dry, it's not your job to quote them both. Your job is to look out the fucking window and find out which is true." -Sally Claire
-
It’s not BS. Questioning the person who says it’s dry does not validate or endorse their point of view. It reveals their inaccuracies and ignorance. Journalists interview Hitler, Mao, or Bin Laden not to endorse their view but to reveal who/why/what they are. It’s valuable info.
-
It is BS because it’s not news. The job is news. What’s news in the viewpoint of a white nationalist? Did you learn something about them that you didn’t already know? What was new that was revealed to anyone older than, say, 10?
-
Journalists reveal breaking news & aspects of our society we “didn’t already know” but they also question why a particular viewpoint is gaining prominence in our society. Why are they feeling more embolden? What are their future plans? Information valuable to defeat them.
-
Are they “gaining prominence”? Where’s the data on that? Do you really not know what makes them emboldened? (Could attn from journalists be part of it?) Gosh, what *could* their future plans be? better ask because surely to God it’s not in that manifesto on their fucking website.

Aaaand after being a 20year supporter, I am so very done. They are, in fact, endorsing that everyone, no matter if it’s dangerous or lying, gets a seat at the table. Koch money will have to keep them afloat.

Does anyone over 40 work at NPR? Anyone with any historical reference? Airing all sides is not journalism. It’s lazy.

Providing a platform to neo Nazis is not presenting facts but rather enabling hateful speech and legitimizing hateful doctrine
-
Or you can have confidence in your own thoughts and opinions. Informing yourself requires listening to many viewpoints
-
What’s news in the viewpoint of a white nationalist, Mike? Did you learn something about them that you didn’t already know? How’d that help you make your own opinion? And we’re you born in the last 5 years?
-
He’s an interesting person, I like listening to interesting people and why they do the things they do. Despite the fact he pushes white pride, I’m not going to plug my ears and censor. Btw, why the shade around the word “nationalist”?
-
Your personal fascination aside, its not news, which is the point. Why the shade about the phrase “white nationalist?” Could supporting those views be the reason for your replies-only twitter account?

-
Aaaaannnddd there is it
