I think describing it as ‘white anxiety’ is giving it a pass. A good interview would reveal someone’s feelings on race—I’ve found people often willing to discuss their racial animus. It’s not as nuanced as you think—in my opinion.

I’d encourage you to talk to the brilliant
@Sifill_LDF at the Legal Defense Fund. I think journalists could do better—it’s important. (Plus she’s Gwen Ifill’s cousin). - 1 more reply

Racism is the systemic and institutional POWER to deny EQUAL access to basic necessities to POC - jobs, housing, food. This isn’t about fear of the other. It’s about losing power to unfair advantage and privilege- so yes, it IS RACISM.

Just because they don't label it in their head as racism doesn't mean it isn't racism.

To echo Soledad, yes, it's racism boo. And FYI, this is getting soooooo old - “journalists” trying to find nuance in overt bigotry. Sometimes, just Occam's razor dude. Walks, talks, it Is white supremacy. Save your pedantic effort for clicks

People who are fearful of change in the form of demographics moving away from white people and toward people of color are indeed racist.

It is not nuanced I am afraid. It is racism pure and simple. I am sort of mystified why you even ask?

its racism. now whether that comes from ignorance or hate is where the nuance comes in, but still all racism.

I am not sure you understand how sick and tired a lot of people are of folks in the media coming up with excuses or just denying examples of blatant racism.
-
Also sick and tired of the media normalizing Trump instead of calling him what he is, a racist, mobbed up lying con artist, Russian agent, Putin puppet. A Manchurian candidate to the T.

Yes, Brian. The fear of change is rooted in racism. They fear losing a privilege that existed due to racism. They fear people gaining power will abuse it, like they have. They are no longer in flight mode, but in fighting mode. I experienced it in a restaurant last week in NYC.
