You are soooo reluctant to use the word ‘racist’. The ‘politics of white anxiety’ is literally racism.https://twitter.com/brianstelter/status/1027858852954419205 …

I folo your work closely. And I like it. But you write about racism around specific events—ie: lebron and trump. You don’t see rallies as an extension of that same long-standing racist strategy. You fail to see that racism undergirds almost everything the President does and says

In this case, in this political environment, at this time in history, "white anxiety" is a cop out. Call it what it is. Every.single.time.

Kind of like how
@CNN has a hard time saying THE PRESIDENT LIED! But hey, bring on Santorum et al to spin the morons propaganda!

1 I can not, nor will I even attempt to speak for Ms. O'Brien. She is more than capable of speaking for herself and far more eloquently than I. So I only speak for me and those like me who I follow. There are many of us that feel that the media has been playing footsie with the

2 the Trump from the start. That they hyped him up for ratings, down played the negativity of his supporters, that you always half-butt (trying not to curse) any criticism out of fear of losing viewers. This especially stings for us that saw Bernie basically get black balled out

She's not the only one. I said the same thing earlier. But I'm not in the news business or a politician, nor famous. So I guess you think my opinion doesn't count. Right Brian?

Maybe bc you jumped on the bandwagon, started using BS euphemisms, won't call a racist exactly that NOW, & are thereby giving said RACISTS room, exposure, relevance, legitimacy, when you could EASILY stick to your guns. "White anxiety", Bri?pic.twitter.com/3JndW5YpTF

Pretty sure you should use it in every instance it applies ... so there is ZERO confusion

Use it now. Also, use it whenever it arises, rather than a lazy euphemism.

Soledad doesn’t have a faulty impression of your work. You have a faulty impression of your work and we keep telling you exactly why but you won’t to listen. “White anxiety” isn’t a clever turn of phrase, it euphemistic idiocy cosplaying as insight. They’re racist.

The fact that you've said racist more than twice means squat coming from a dude who is on-line and / or on-air just about every day. Her point - which you haven't countered - is that you're reluctant to say "racist" even in cases where it's the most appropriate word available.

People in the media are so quick to attack their critics, but then tip toe around those who are actually in power that they ought to be holding accountable. The egos need to be checked.

Because you always phrase it as a question. “Is so and so a racist? Is this racism?”. Very different from just naming it as racism. And saying that they are racists.

It's the difference between misdemeanors and felonies. White anxiety = petty theft. Racism = Grand larceny. White anxiety comes across as a meltdown while racism is ones way of acting or thinking subtle or not to oppress a group based on race.

In general or in a specific context like that tweet, actually identifying Fox as a racist based network? If you aren't afraid to use the word, why didn't you use it in this instance instead of dressing it up in the country club term "white anxiety" of the GOP?

Then call it what it is. Call it racism. Don’t make up shitty vanilla terms like “white anxiety”.
