    Brian Stelter Retweeted Maddow Blog

MSNBC framed this as "White House edits video to remove question about whether Putin wanted Trump to win." Maddow made it sound *intentional.* Now there's been an innocent explanation and MSNBC has revised its web headline. But viewers were left thinking the WH was being sneakyhttps://twitter.com/maddowblog/status/1022191222146953222 …

Maddow says the bigger issue is the fact that the WH hasn't fixed the transcript for more than a weekhttps://twitter.com/maddow/status/1022185703407579136?s=21 …

(1): White House has let it stand uncorrected, and (2): POTUS now asserts that Putin wants *Dems* to win, not him. I love WaPo with the heat of 1000 suns, but nothing here from WaPo disproves our report. 3/3

The White House lies all day, everyday. So nothing they do is “innocent”, but keep trying to make the bullies your friends.

A discrepancy that cuts out and changes the context of the most controversial quote of the entire press conference? Why would anyone be suspicious of that? Completely innocent mistake, I’m sure.

Pulitzer Prize for @brianseltzer for his insightful, cutting-edge journalism that takes a traumatically low moment in American history where the potus commits treason before the world & makes Rachel Maddow the villain for pointing out the WH edited the video in a fishy way?

I don't get it. I've always appreciated Stelter's analysis of the news and particularly of the journalism that reports the news. But he seems determined to continue giving the WH the benefit of the doubt no matter how many times they prove themselves to be liars. Fool me once??

This WH & potus have long since squandered the benefit of any doubt that may arise. They run on deceit & bank on distorting & disparaging truth. Maybe he's suffering from #FAKENEWS! syndrome & erring on the side of WH to curry legitimacy with the people Trump taught to hate CNN

To all the people blasting @maddow for this, I would encourage you to stop and think. She is correcting the record. How many times has this administration and @realDonaldTrump lied, distorted, fabricated, and projected... and how many times have they recanted? I'll wait...

It only took her 17 hours to “correct” the lie she made up. Goody. If your best defense is “TRUMP LIES TOO” all you’ve proven is you don’t mind being lied to by the right people.
