When journalism becomes opinionated and sides with a political party, they have no one but themselves to blame!

Lost in the all the effusive praise of the NY Daily News after 50% of its staff was unceremoniously laid off is the fact that that paper had lost any sense of impartial reporting in the Trump era, alienating some readers in the process and ultimately hurting the brand: pic.twitter.com/vHDMijRXqN

We should take seriously the idea that private equity is systematically destroying the press out of spite. OTOH, they destroy almost everything else they touch, too, so there may be an "innocent" explanation.

Ad fraud is a huge problem for local journalism too! This is the root cause of so many issues and it’s never taken into consideration.

It’s also the “reporters” and employees who choose to comply with Sinclair and other companies who are writing the “local news”. They could work elsewhere or refuse to do their dirty work.

There's no better example of that than here in the Twin Cities, where the @StarTribune has successfully reinvented itself under local management, while rival @PioneerPress is making money, but continues to face cuts under Media News Group's slash-and-burn management style.
