Some W.H. correspondents feel Sanders' briefings are useless. BUT they still care about the existence of the briefing. It's a symbol of accessibility and a way to challenge govt stonewalling. The briefing SHOULD be a valuable source of info. Let's not settle for less...https://twitter.com/KChatwin22/status/1019574052363685889 …

All she does is mislead or refuse to answer. Why bother if they’re completely useless.

"We still go because we care about the symbol" is in quite a bit of tension with "let's not settle for less."

Sure, and I'm saying the symbolic weight they're putting on it has negative repercussions on the practical import. If they go because of the symbolism, there's no need for the WH to follow through on the practical.

Then they ought to push back — and not provide oxygen for her lying nonanswers. The symbolism of the briefing is that it’s a chance for reporters to demand answers, not play along for old times’ sake. Yep. I consider the Golden Era of Obama to be his first three days. Then he hired lobbyists and sent Gibbs out to deflect questions. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/white-house-watch/press-watch/the-white-house-and-the-press.html …

You settle for less by not putting great pressure on SHS. Trump is nothing without his connection to media. Take a significant avenue away, better yet, show indifference to her word, and you’ll have the impact you desire.

I mean, you guys have been "settling for less" for a year and a half. Why don't you get unified and hammer away at ONE question? Be relentless, every reporter having the last reporter's back and pushing for a real answer?

I get that side of it too. I’m beginning to think maybe giving less of a platform to the sideshow might be better. Who knows? U definitely need a new playbook for this administration.

If the briefing is to continue, then said correspondents need to push back... hard, and then stick up for each other, to both SHS and DJT.

Yes, I appreciate that all the reporters want to ask different questions, but I wish that just one day they would work in concert, and when she gives a non-answer, no one moves on to a new topic, but just continues to press on that unanswered question.

You're rationalizing the appearance of journalists at the WH press briefings instead of standing up to the gaslighting, lies, insults from @PressSec and demanding transparency in gov't. Journalists need to organize, to protest & take a stand for freedom of the press.
