Trump on tape to @TheSun: "In fact, the GDP, since I've taken over, has doubled and tripled." World Bank says the U.S. GDP was $18.6 trillion in 2016, $19.4 trillion in 2017. "Doubled and tripled." Where does he get these ideas?

I think it's still inaccurate, but I think he was referring to the rate of growth in GDP, not the actual GDP.

No. The GDP growth rate in the last quarter is actually smaller, 2.0%, than it was in the previous quarter, 2.9%. http://bit.ly/2uu3Fvq  And the deficit is higher than it has ever been since WW2 & projected to reach historic proportions within 10 years.https://cbsn.ws/2utJ9e7

The deficit is actually expected to be EQUAL to our GDP by 2028 (10 years). Think what that is going to mean for our kids, for our retirees, not to mention everyone else.http://bit.ly/2mihMQt

He probably meant GDP growth. Our GDP was $18.04T in 2015. YoY growth in 2016 was .56%. Today's GDP is $19.96T at midyear, growing almost 3x since 2016.

You don't know what GDP (gross domestic product) even is, then. No one who knows what GDP is could possibly think it has doubled in two years. We have not doubled our output as a nation. Come on! Turn off Fox propaganda and read a few legit sources. #TrumpLies #GOPLies #FoxLies

I know the growth rate in GDP has more than Doubled since he became President. And it could hit 5-6% growth.... and if it hits 6% it will have TRIPLED. CNN LIES #FakeNewS

Fox Fan u and no other reputable economist believes we r going to grow at 4% or 6% longterm. This is a debt induced expansion. The longterm growth projections from the cboe have barely changed.
