I think if the point is to demonstrate journalists are down with the people, high school jobs vs. jobs people need to survive as adults doesn't quite match up. I get it, but I also don't get it.

What about if he had to have a job in HS to survive as a young adult?

Or needed the jobs to get through college? I got through with no financial help from parents. I was responsible for what the financial aid documents said should be my contribution and theirs.

I got paid $25/week for being Boy Scout Summer Camp staff in my teen years. At least we got free room (concrete pad in a tent with electricity!) and board (free meals..whoop whoop). Scary thing is it shows on my SS annual statement of $100 in 1985.
